Originally purchased for ARES use, this might just end up replacing the EFHW at home.

Small Transmitting Loop (STL), aka Magnetic Loop Antennas (MLA)

Small Transmitting Loop (STL), aka Magnetic Loop Antennas (MLA)

If I can't hear them on the vertical, I usually can on the horizontal EFHW.

Small transmitting loop, magnetic loop antennas.

STLs, or small transmitting loops.  Also known as magnetic loop antennas.  Diminutive in size, but big on performance!

Loading Coils for Portable Vertical Antennas

Small Transmitting Loop (STL), aka Magnetic Loop Antennas (MLA)

Loading Coils for Portable Vertical Antennas

Loading coils add series inductance to the antenna system, allowing for a shorter radiator. Also permits the use of several bands without the need for a matching unit (tuner).

My Hitch Mount Antenna Solution

Stealth Antennas for 2M and 70CM

Loading Coils for Portable Vertical Antennas

I made this out of scrap tubing I had, but it could also be easily fabricated by your local welding shop for not a lot of money.

Wire HF Antennas

LiFePO4 Batteries

3 Band Sloping Crossed Dipole for NVIS

LiFePO4 Batteries

I use a variety of batteries I have assembled from LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate), Li-Po (lithium-ion polymer), and Li-Ion (lithium ion) cells.  When it comes to batteries to run your portable setup, the only right answer is LiFePO4!
